How to Take Cover Off a PS3

Taking the cover off a PS3 is not hard if you follow a few simple steps. To begin, you’ll need a screwdriver with a long enough shaft. Then, you’ll need to unscrew the seven Phillips head screws around the front face cover and the two clasps at the bottom. You can also use a longer screwdriver to remove the two clasps at the bottom of the inner cover.

Remove the power/reset circuit board

First, you need to remove the front-most plastic shell of the PlayStation. You can do this by unscrewing the nine screws and releasing the locking tabs. You should then see the hard drive. Pull it out carefully by gently pulling the plastic tabs. You can also push the hard drive into place by pushing on its ribbon cable.

Before you start the repair, you should make sure that the PlayStation 3 is disconnected from power. You can also use an antistatic wrist strap or an active light switch to ground your unit. Once you do this, you can proceed with the repair. Make sure that you remove any loose cables or screws that are sticking out of the PlayStation 3.

Now, you can try to reset the PlayStation 3 console by connecting a USB cable. To do this, you need to press the middle button on the PlayStation 3 controller. If you are unable to do this, press the reset button located on the back of the controller. Once you do this, you should be able to use the controller again. However, you should be aware that this method drains the energy of the PlayStation 3.

You can also format the hard drive of a PlayStation if it has become corrupted. You should be aware that formatting your hard drive will delete all your saved data, so you should be careful before formatting.

Remove the smart plate

To replace the motherboard of your PlayStation 3, you will need to take apart nearly all components. To do this, first you will need to remove the smart plate. To do this, you must pull it towards the hard drive bay and then lift the top cover of the PlayStation 3 off. Ensure that you keep track of the small metal bracket that secures the top cover to the body of the PlayStation 3. Next, you need to disconnect the power cable for the Blu-ray drive. Carefully pull the tray out of the console.

You will also need a special screwdriver for this. You can get a 5 sided torx screwdriver for this purpose. You may also need a spudger with a flat end. This tool will help you get the motherboard assembly out of the PlayStation 3. Next, you need to unscrew the 7.7-mm Phillips screw that secures the ground strap to the chassis. Once you have removed the screw, you will need to remove the AC-In cables and AC inlet from the bottom of the rear cover.

Remove the two small screws holding the hard drive holder to the board

To remove the hard drive holder, unscrew two small screws. These are attached to the PS3’s hard drive holder with a metal pull tab. A small Philips screwdriver should work fine to remove these screws. Once the hard drive is out, you’ll need to clean the inside of the unit. You can use a soft plastic-bristled brush to clean the inside of the unit.

To remove the hard drive, flip your PS3 over and carefully pull the bottom half of the case free. Next, unscrew the blue screw holding the hard drive to the PS3 board. Next, lift the hard drive out of the PS3 and slide it to the right. Once it’s out, carefully set it aside.

Next, remove the plastic case that holds the hard drive. You’ll be able to see the optical drive, cooling fan, and power supply. You’ll also notice several security screws holding the components in place. The plastic case also contains a small ribbon cable.

Alternatively, you can use a butter knife to lift the hard drive cage. After removing the hard drive cage, you can now remove the hard drive from the motherboard assembly. Be careful when you remove the hard drive cage, as failure to do so can cause the plastic piece on the board to break off.

Remove the top panel

Firstly, you need to remove the top panel on your PlayStation 3 console. It has nine screws. Once you remove the screws, you will be able to access the innards of the PlayStation. You can clean these parts with cleaning alcohol or compressed air. After cleaning, replace the parts one by one.

Next, you need to locate the Torx screw underneath the sticker. To do this, you will need a Torx screwdriver. You can also find four small star screws on the front panel. To remove these, you can drill a small hole in the screw. Once you remove these screws, you must be careful as you will void the warranty of the console.

Once you have removed the screws, you need to remove the top panel from your PlayStation 3. You must be able to rotate the console upside down. This will make it easier to pull it off. Alternatively, you can use tweezers. If you cannot find a tweezers, you can use a plastic tool to pry it off.

You can use a screwdriver to remove the top panel of your PlayStation 3. This will not require much effort and won’t strip the screws. Be careful not to strip the screws and pull it off by hand. Once you’ve removed the top panel, make sure to use a cleaning brush to remove any dust caked on the fan blades.
